Converse Band of Ballers-Team Black Lips

screen-shot-2010-06-02-at-25629-pm

I was asked by The Black Lips to play on their team for the Converse Band of Ballers Basketball Competition. Not sure why they asked me but I had to say yes. It was a great time despite getting killed on the court. Our first game we played against Jermaine Dupri’s So So Def team. They slaughtered us 10-0. It wasnt really fair seeing that Jermaine had real players from And1 on his team and he didnt even play, but still a good time. Second game we played some rock band from Jersey named “Steel Train”. We actually thought we had a chance with these guys but no such luck. After team Black Lips official ringer Scott Laney got thrown out for a technical foul everything went downhill, we lost 10-4. We would have sat and watched Jim Jones win for the second year in a row but we all decided to go take naps to rest up for the after party at Dallas Austin’s house. Which was off the hook, by the end of the night everyone had their own Bottles of Belvedere and champaign, goodtimes! Check out the Converse site for a recap.

Statik Selektah - 100 Proof

20091222-statik

statik-03

If you have not heard of this guy and you claim you love Hip-Hop then go do your homework… Statik inspires DJ Premier to keep making music, yeah thats right! Statik Selektah may be the hardest working Producer/DJ/Radio host in the game right now. He made a whole album with Saigon in 24 hours called “All in a Days Work”, and be on the lookout for the follow up to that called “All in Another Days Work” which will be recorded in 24 hours live on the net. He has a radio show on Sirius Radio and churns out DOPE albums and mixtapes through his label ShowoffRecords at a pace no one can match. I met Statik while he was in town at the A3C Festival. I introduced myself to him, and we did a interview and next thing you know we did a shoot for his new Album 100 Proof - The Hangover. Statik gave me this album a couple of months ago and let me tell you this shit is fire! Album coming out in February 2010. If you ever run into this guy, go and grab some beer and ask him to talk about Hip-Hop music and it just may lead you to a great conversation and most def a HANGOVER!

XXL December 2009

_mg_5370

I have two Shots in the new XXL. OJ Da Juiceman & Big Bank Black. Big Bank Blacks new single “Try it Out” is on fire on the streets of Atlanta, and features Kandi Burruss from The Real Housewives of Atlanta. The OJ article is a good read, he is not the only rapper to have been shot several times and come out of it with a new career. Juiceman was shot 8 times and has a couple of the bullets still in his leg, crazy. Make the Trap Say Aye!

Jody Breeze - 2 Videos

http://www.vimeo.com/7595154 http://www.vimeo.com/6909241

I just finished my second video with Jody Breeze. We did a video a month ago for his Jeezy Diss track titled “Uptown Freestyle“. I seemed to have caught a bunch of flack for glamorizing Gangsta Culture… Hmmm, last I checked Im not the one who tells people what to do, I just turn on my camera and tell the story VISUALLY, im not the one writing the script per say. Lets say life is a movie, I just wake up and watch it unfold, if you have a problem with anything I do, then go call up the artists I shoot personally. Im Switzerland, I do not involve myself with any beef, I love everyone, including the haters and the biters, and we all know there are a million of you out there…. Nuff of that nonsense check out these two videos. Jody Breeze goes in, enjoy!

I am Buju Banton

screen-shot-2009-11-05-at-64543-pm

screen-shot-2009-11-13-at-25623-pm

This is a great story right here. Two weeks ago Buju Banton played at Center Stage. My buddy Jeff Gewirtz emailed Tracii McGregor (Buju’s Manager) about getting a press pass to shoot some video. We ended up getting a couple media passes and rolled to the show ready to get it on. 20 minutes into filming I was asked by one of Buju’s people to shut my camera down and give them my memory card. I told him he would have to arrest me, as I would never give away my shit. I told him I would erase the images but that was a no go. We met up with Tracii and a few other people at the front of the venue. After a few minutes of arguing back and forth I offered to format my card, I was stopped quickly before i hit the format button and Tracii said “No, dont do it, Buju wants to see the footage”. Fast Forward to backstage after the show. We had to wait an hour in a dark hallway, then we were asked to come into an even darker room. Buju was alone sitting in a corner, he waved us over. I cant lie i was scared as hell, but I sat next to him and we talked for approx 20 minutes. Buju invited me to meet with him the next day at his hotel. He claimed he wanted to talk more with me. Next day we met up and Buju & Tracii. Buju wanted to see some of my video work. I showed him the video i did for Pill. After Buju watched the video he asked me if I wanted to document him for a year. I was dying laughing on the inside, I politley told him Im not sure if we could make that work. 1 year turned into me following him on the last leg of his “Rasta got Soul” tour. We filmed his last 5 shows in the sunny state of Florida. I have to say this was an amazing life experience and we came back with some amazing footage. In the short term we will be releasing a video for his new single “Optimistic Soul“. And in the long term we are putting together a documentary about the man and his music titled “I am Buju Banton“. Be on the lookout for that, and in the meantime enjoy a couple of screenshots.
