Had to wait to post this clip till after XXL posted their official behind the scenes video. This is not really a behind the scenes moment, its more of a light hearted moment between 3 of A-Towns Finest. I like to think we try to capture people exactly how they are, and this is a moment in time that was very natural as we were waiting for SouljaBoy to get to the shoot. Which by the time he did get there I had all of 23 minutes to shoot 2 Cover options and 2 two-page spreads. Thanks man… Not hatin on SouljaBoy, Im just sayin….
I hung out with Grand Hustle the other day before the Hot 107.9 Birthday Bash. Lil Duval broke out his “Fake Ass Chain” which may be a T-Pain diss? Not sure but I know he has a chain that closely resembles this one but is titled “Big Ass Chain” I like Lil Duvals better. Yung La was in the building with Young Dro. I wish I could say I had more footage from this day but we rolled up with 30 people and they would not let me in with my camera. DAMN! Even rolling with Jason Geter and all of Grand Hustle was not enough to get me in that day. Their loss, I would have killed it, haha. Next year let me in All Access! Enjoy some funny footage courtesy of Lil Duval, that dude is hilarious…
Levi Maestro came by the studio a few days ago with Decatur Dan for a 2 hour freestyle session. We did some video and some real off the cuff photos. If you dont know who Maestro is you can catch him on this little blog called Hypebeast, haha. He already used one of the photos for his Mixtape: Maestro Knows Season One with DJ Sourmilk. I love it when you shoot something and something gets done with it in less than a week, that is progress! Thanks to Levi for coming through and gettin shit done! And props to Dan for helping bridge the gap between L.A. and The A. Download that mixtape…
I just got word that VIBE Magazine is closing it’s doors today. Very sad day for magazines and especially one’s that focus on the urban side of music. My first assignment for VIBE was also my first shoot with T.I. Which opened many doors for me professionally. The second assignment was one of my most memorable: 3-6 Mafia right after they won their Oscar. It was also right after Crunchy Black was kicked out. We showed up to Memphis and shot on Beale Street. Juicey J and Dj Paul showed up but no Crunchy. I kept asking if he was gonna show up and the answer was simply, NO. I was nervous because I knew VIBE was gonna freak out. I was probably the first person to know that Crunch was no longer in 3-6. We ended up shooting some real classic flicks that day. No question my photos from that shoot are my most known. I have shot for them for 4 years and they will be very missed. I have to thank VIBE for opening the doors to my dreams, while some doors close you have helped open many others, THANK YOU!
It’s going down! The Bookhouse and El Bar have teamed up to bring you the first annual “Pigs on Ponce” 4th of July Experience. It is also the official TEFLON BLOGS launch party ( stevedeniro.com, snortthis.com, zachwolfe.com/LIVE ). Rob Wonder will be doing his DOPE radio show “No Static at All” live in the MJQ parking lot, then into the night at El Bar. Dax, Steve and I will be reporting all party long. Come out and wear something patriotic! And if dont have anything that qualifies as patriotic the dudes from “We Are the Process” will be handing out some of their new classic T-Shirts. Be there!
Jason Geter invited Sumner & I out to his new store Strivers Row the other night for an exclusive B.o.B vs. Bobby Ray in-store performance. Jason is starting a weekly called “Nights at Strivers Row” every wednesday in the Virginia HIghlands. Bobby Ray killed this acoustic set. People are comparing this guy to Andre 3000 and I guess I can see that a bit, but really this guy is just original in every sense of the word, and his singing skills are on another level. Support Atlanta!
This my friends is the one and only Sumner Demoura. Who is this guy? This is the guy who keeps Zach Wolfe Enterprises running at full steam. Sumner started working for me a little over a year ago. He started as the Starbucks guy, then moved into the accounting department and now he is the Final Cut Wiz I have been looking for. All of you kids who want to be put on, study this guy, a young one at that (22). He just finished an ultra quick edit of some footage I did two nights ago with B.o.B. Big ups Sumner! Shout out to Aaron Martell of The Joneses, keeping us laced with some fresh T’s! Be on the lookout for some fresh photos of Andrew Young, this was a test shot from an Atlanta Mag assignment.
This is Patrick Fong, art director supreme from Atlantic Records. This was shot while scouting locations for the Plies album “Da Realist”. We never ended up doing this set-up but I have always loved this shot. So here it is alive on the Blog!
